Coming from Rome (Italy) and formed in 1999, KLIMT 1918 offers us Indie-Rock music with many gothic influences. Compared with groups like ANATHEMA, DREDG and EDITORS, they have three albums full of great compositions and of great quality, hardly known in the Spanish market. Despite their ignorance, the promoter Eclipse Group opted for them with two dates in our country.
On the Barcelona date they were accompanied by LE GRANT, a Barcelona group with a marked Indie and New-Wave character that was the winner of the first edition of “Indiependent Bcn Week”. They began to play with the room practically empty and they offered us songs like 'Low' or 'The Feel', belonging to their EP, quite danceable and which encouraged the little existing public, but although they showed a good attitude and were active among them, they barely they had communication with the public, which somewhat overshadowed their performance making it a bit cold.
It was the turn of the Italians, without the room having been filled much more. With the entire group positioned on the stage, an intro began to sound in which a reference to a DSCF6605 letter written by Ernesto Che Guevara was made and which became a bit long, and immediately afterwards began with 'Breathtaking Days', from his latest work' Just In Case We'll Never Meet Again (Soundtrack For The Cassette Generation) '. They reminded us of their first steps in music with 'Passive', a song from their first Demo, yes, adapted to the current style of the group. After this song for the most nostalgic they focused on their two most recent works. Songs like 'Ghost of a Tape Listener', 'True Love Is The Oldest Fear', 'Nightdriver' and 'Dopoguerra' were the most acclaimed by the public, which barely passed a hundred people. The only downside to his more than correct performance was the set-list, leaving songs like 'Sleepwalk In Rome', 'Rachel' or 'UnDSCF6631dressed Momento' in the pipeline.
It is a real pity that a group of the quality of the Italians hardly has a pull, either because of promotional issues (they belong to a small label) or because of feeling with the listeners. This type of music, much more commercial than the Metal groups in which this blog has a place, and more than the compositional quality of these people, could perfectly be doing world tours with groups or, without reaching these limits, having filled the Sala Salamandra perfectly with an audience accustomed to not so extreme rhythms (most of the attendees were metal fans).
